HAPPINNESS CENTRE is a save haven for the intellectually and
physically challenged children of Melaka. This home was founded
by Mr. Roy Collar, on 1st July
2000. Children who have no one to love or care for them are the first one to
gain acceptance into this special home. Most of these precious children are
either abandoned or come from very poor families. Some of them come from broken
or single parent homes. Their families are not able to send them to
institutions, workshops or day-care centres, which expect a monthly fee.
Happiness centre on the other hand do not charge any fees, the reason being that
the poor innocent children will be left to degenerate, because the families are
not able to come up with the up-keep fee.
There are 35 inmates at our home
and all are physically or mentally disable. Their ages range from 5 years to 34
years. We have 17 Chinese, 11 Malay and 7 Indian children. All of these special
children are not able to fend for themselves, even for their most basic needs.
20 of them require pampers and 21 of them have to be fed. Most of these
children have multiple disabilities ranging from cerebral palsy, polio
paralysis, speech impairment blindness and mental disorders.
Happiness centre employs 10
caretakers to cater to the children's needs.
Most of all we try to shower them with love and affection. The utmost
priority of the centre is that the children are always clean and in pink of health.
With GOD'S help and the generosity of the caring public, we try to keep this
one-the-the state centre operational and hope to raise enough funds to buy own
premises, so as to able to cater to more of these special children, who society
has rejected but GOD has not. We try to give them a dignified life and hope
that is some small way, they may be able to enjoy a little sunshine in their
lives. We see them as GOD'S ANGLES on earth, pure and innocent, it's up to us
to be able to recognize them.
We hope to able to carry on this
work and get more of these special ones to our centre, with the help of the
caring public.
LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, GOD said, so......

How it Got Started
Roy started this home because of the plight of
come of the children he saw during the course of his work in 1988. Feeling that
they were being neglected and abused, he felt that there should be a way to
help there children and make their lives more comfortable and dignified.
He prayed and asked for guidance
from God, and after much soul-searching decided to open the centre for the
mentally and physically disable children of Melaka. This way only made possible
with the help from family and friends who gave encouragement and support.
Speech by Mr. Roy
Collar Founder of Happiness Centre
Today, I would like to thanks
everyone for their generous support. Those who give full-heartily will be
rewarded and those who receive will have to work hard. And today, the children
that I have, when they are hungry, they will cry, when they pain, they will
cry, but cannot say. They want to go for outings but cannot say, so they cry.
There children when they want new clothes, they will cry, all this I have
learnt through being with them 24 hours a day. This is the reason I have to be
with these special ones all the time. I need your generous support both
financial and morally.
Thank You.
Your sincerely,
Roy Collar, Founder
