Founder of Pusat Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Bahagia (Happiness Centre)
Pusat Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Bahagia or better known as Happiness Centre is a brainchild of mine and my deep desire to fulfill a dream of taking care of the less privileged members of our society. I am a Portuguese from Portuguese Settlement, Melaka and through my difficult growing up years I had picked up skills about massaging and administering simple non- oral medical treatments. I learned about caring and sharing for the elderly and this is helping me in my current situation with these special ones. This home was opened in the year 2000 and we started with just 4 young ones and today we have 30 very severely physically challenged residents, who need attention around the clock. We take in individuals from all ethnicities and our main objective is to be able to care for them with love and care for the short time they are with us. Their families are under no obligation to pay a specified monthly fee, as we take in individuals from poor backgrounds, single-parent homes and or are abandoned.

Greetings of ‘Good morning’ Aunty, with big sunshine smiles from my special children is what makes my day so beautiful. My service here since 2000 has been the most rewarding career of my life. I am Mommy for this special ones and coming in everyday is so rewarding. Sometimes people are afraid to come to these places, afraid to see the sad depressed and uncared for look on the faces of special children, but at this center you will be greeted by happy smiles. I tell people we are not privileged to see angels but these special children are angels on earth, so innocent pure and beautiful. For me these are God’s special children, put on this earth for us to care and love and as such we try to do our best to give them the best.
